Q: What is Bloom Charleston?
A: Bloom Charleston is a two-day celebration of parks, gardens, and horticulture at Colonial Lake in Charleston, SC. The event includes keynote talks and demonstrations, immersive garden experiences, a plant sale, children’s activities, pop-ups, and more.
Q: When and where does the event take place?
Opening Night Garden Party: Friday, October 17, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Colonial Lake (46–54 Ashley Ave, Charleston, SC)
Main Festival Day: Saturday, October 18, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., at the same location
Q: How much does attendance cost?
The Opening Night Garden Party requires a ticket priced at $275.
The Saturday festival is free and open to the public.
Q: Who is the event for?
A: Bloom Charleston is where Charleston’s historic charm, natural beauty and rich history of horticultural innovations converge to create a vibrant celebration of public parks and gardens. Born out of the vision and dedication of the Charleston Parks Conservancy, Bloom Charleston seeks to inspire and empower our community by showcasing the transformative power of thoughtful garden design, innovative sustainability practices, and meaningful collaboration. Charleston Parks Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring the people of Charleston to connect with their parks and create stunning public places and a strong community. Since 2007, the Conservancy has partnered with the City of Charleston to create and sustain parks, gardens, and trails.

Q: How can I register or obtain tickets?
A: Tickets and registration details are available via Eventbrite. The “Register” link on the Bloom Charleston site redirects to the Eventbrite listing, or click HERE.
Q: Can I transfer or refund my ticket?
A: Tickets for the Opening Night Garden Party are nonrefundable, but you may transfer your ticket to another individual.
Q: What if the event is canceled or postponed?
A: In the event that Bloom Charleston must be canceled or rescheduled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, registrants will be notified by email in advance with refund options.

Q: Do I have to pre-register for individual talks or sessions?
A: No but it is recommended for event updates, parking info, and more. Attendance to the talks and demonstrations on Saturday is open and included with the free festival access. Just arrive early to secure your seat.

The Plant From Your Parks Plant Sale features a curated selection of plants suited to Charleston’s environments, with proceeds benefiting the Charleston Parks Conservancy’s work in parks, gardens, and trails.
The SEWE Discovery Garden Kids Zone invites children and teens to dig, plant, play, and learn through fun, hands-on interactive gardening and nature activities.
Live Plein Air Painting by Mary Hoffman lets audiences watch an artist capture the landscape in real time through outdoor painting demonstrations.
Blooms Through the Lens with Photography by Anne offers tips and tricks to help visitors improve their smartphone photography of flowers and nature.
Live Topiary Shaping with Mike Gibson shows greenery being crafted into living sculptures and explains the artistry behind topiary garden design.
The Home & Garden Pop-Up by Elizabeth Stuart features a curated collection of items inspired by global travel, blending home decor and gardening.
Buxton Books Garden Bookstore will provide a selection of gardening, design, and lifestyle books authored by expert speakers, with opportunities for personalized purchases and author signings.
The Garden Club of Charleston Pop-Up offers attendees access to the newest Gardeners’ Guide for the Lowcountry, combining Clemson research, local expertise, care tips, and full-color imagery.
Ask An Expert Gardener, hosted by the Charleston Horticultural Society, allows visitors to bring gardening questions and get advice from local experts to help grow healthy plants and gardens.
Venue & Logistics
Q: Where do I park?
A: Ashley Avenue will be closed between Broad Street and Beaufain Street during the event. We encourage guests to carpool, walk, bike, or use rideshare services, as on-site parking will be limited. Attendees may enter through any of the access points surrounding Colonial Lake. Limited street parking is available on nearby side streets, and the closest parking garage is located at 93 Queen Street (approximately a 12-minute walk).
Q: Is the event accessible?
A: We are committed to accessibility. The festival grounds and talk areas will be wheelchair accessible. If you have particular needs or require assistance, contact us in advance at 843-724-5003.
Q: Can I bring food or drinks?
A: You may bring your own water or snacks, but no outside alcoholic beverages. Food trucks will have offerings available for purchase.
Q: What should I bring or wear?
A: We recommend comfortable walking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), and weather-appropriate layers. Bring a water bottle and a small bag for any plants or items you may purchase. If rain is forecast, consider a portable umbrella or poncho.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Yes, pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash at all time.
